Crushing: Live at Dixon Place

Crushing is a series of nine monologues written and performed by writers in their 20s and 30s. Each explores the messiness of romantic love. Selected from nearly a hundred submitted from around the globe (Berlin to Sydney, Nairobi to Oakland), they featured a range of tones — stories about love in the wake of a stroke that rendered a young writer disabled; or a comedic approach to an STD diagnosis; or a verbal processing of interracial love amid the 2020 Black Lives Matter movement.

Crushing completed a sold-out run at renowned downtown New York theater Dixon Place in April 2023. Arianna Huffington called it “beautifully honest.” The pieces were also memorialized in a literary magazine.
